Mark your bicycle and keep its identifiers

Find a marking service, check the registration and prepare your personal file.

This guide covers bicycle identification in France. Marking helps identify a bicycle; it does not replace a lock.

Bicycle marking and identification: take action

Get your bicycle identified, find its operator and keep a copy of your references.

Saving a number in e-zybike does not mark your bicycle or update France’s FNUCI register. Official registration and status changes are handled by your marking operator.

Two useful references with different roles

The serial number comes from the manufacturer. The marking identifier links the bicycle to its record in France’s FNUCI national register of identified cycles. Keep both when available.

Before your appointment

Ask which operator and marking method are offered, whether they suit your bicycle’s frame, the price and the documents to bring. Bicycle shops and some cycling associations offer this service.

After marking

Activate your operator account, check your contact details and keep the certificate and invoice. Copy the identifier into My Garage so you can find it without the bicycle.

After theft or damage, or when selling

Find your references in the Protection file and its printable version. After theft, report it to law enforcement and update the status with your operator. When selling, follow its ownership transfer process.
